Rocky Mountain Elementary is welcoming a new face to its leadership team this school year: Zachary Eagar has been named principal, bringing with him a wealth of experience, a deep love of education, and a heartfelt connection to the school’s special programs.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining Rocky Mountain Elementary,” Eagar said. “Since learning about this opportunity, I’ve felt nothing but excitement. Education is my passion, and I love helping children grow into the best versions of themselves.”

Eagar, who previously served as a Special Education Director in Alpine School District, says his commitment to students with disabilities is a core part of who he is. That background makes his new role especially meaningful, as Rocky Mountain is home to a regional special education program serving students from north Orem and Lindon.

“Supporting students with disabilities is something I deeply value,” he explained. “Rocky Mountain’s special education program is incredible, and I’m honored to support and champion it.”

In addition to his professional background, Eagar shares a personal connection to another of the school’s signature programs—the Portuguese Dual Language Immersion (DLI) track.

“Portuguese is a language I cherish,” Eagar said. “I learned it during a two-year mission in Brazil and have a deep love for the people, the culture, and the beauty of the language. I’m thrilled to have the chance to use it again.”

Eagar says what excites him most is the chance to connect with the people who make Rocky Mountain special. “More than anything, I’m eager to get to know the students, families, teachers, and staff. This is a wonderful school, and I feel honored to step into this role.”

A Career Rooted in Purpose

Eagar began his teaching career in 2007 as a fourth-grade intern at Bonneville Elementary. From there, he moved to Vineyard Elementary, where he taught fourth grade and later took on leadership responsibilities as a Title I coordinator while completing a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership at BYU.

He went on to serve as assistant principal at both Freedom and Meadow Elementaries before becoming principal at Hillcrest Elementary. When Hillcrest merged with Scera Park to form Centennial Elementary in 2019, Eagar took on a new challenge: launching the newly built Liberty Hills Elementary in Lehi City.

In 2022, Eagar was appointed as a Special Education Director for Alpine School District, overseeing programming across 21 elementary schools.

Family First

Outside of school, Eagar finds his greatest joy in his family. He and his wife, Lindsey, are parents to four daughters: Brooklyn (17), Kylie (14), Macey (10), and Ashley (7).

“We love spending time together—playing games, reading, watching movies, and enjoying the outdoors,” he said. “My family is everything to me, and I know that our patrons' families are just as precious to them. I want every parent to know that I will approach my work with the utmost care and concern for their children’s safety, well-being, and educational success.”

As Rocky Mountain Elementary prepares to open its doors for another school year, the community can look forward to a principal who brings a steady hand, a warm heart, and a deep commitment to every student.

“I’m honored to be part of Rocky Mountain,” Eagar said. “I look forward to working together as we support and inspire our students.”
