Dear Parents and School Employees of Rocky Mountain Elementary,

Each new school year brings the opportunity to establish a School Community Council (SCC) that works to strengthen the educational experiences of our students and help Rocky Mountain continue to grow and succeed. The council is made up of parents, school employees, and the principal, and it is one of the best ways for parents and staff to be directly involved in supporting student learning.

The purpose of the SCC is to understand the current needs of our school, identify our greatest academic priorities, and develop plans for improvement. A key responsibility is creating an annual School Improvement Plan, which includes determining how our school’s annual dividend from the state School LAND Trust fund will be used to support student achievement. The council also reviews other important plans, such as our safe school access routing plan and digital citizenship plan.

The Rocky Mountain SCC consists of eight members—five parent representatives and three employee representatives. Membership terms are for two years and elections for vacancies are held at the beginning of each school year. Parent members must have a student attending the school for at least one of the two years of the term of service.

This year, we have the following open positions:

Three (3) parent representative positions
Two (2) employee representative positions

If you are interested in running for one of these open positions, please complete the online candidate nomination form by September 1, 2025:

https://bit.ly/scc_candidate_form

Elections will take place September 3–5, 2025 and will close at 12:00 pm on the last day (September 5). Elections will be held online. An electronic ballot will be sent to patrons and employees of Rocky Mountain Elementary on the first day of the election window. Please note that the ballot will only allow one voting opportunity per user. In order to receive the election ballot, you must have a valid email address in Skyward and indicate you wish to receive emailed communications from Alpine School District. If you need assistance adding or updating your email address or contact settings in Skyward, please contact one of our school secretaries at (801) 610-8117.

Serving on the council is fully compatible with participation in other school organizations, such as the PTA. If you have any questions, please contact Principal Eagar at (801) 610-8117.

School improvement is a shared responsibility, and our School Community Council is a powerful way we can join together to make Rocky Mountain the best it can be for our students. Please consider submitting your name as a candidate for the Rocky Mountain SCC.

Sincerely,

Zach Eagar
Principal

Back-to-School Assembly Highlights!

Today at our assembly, our teachers joined in on a fun game of On a Scale of 1 to T-Rex, showing performances from 1 to 10! The goal? To get our students thinking about what makes a “10” performance stand out. From energy and effort to focus and creativity, it was a fun way to explore excellence.

We then invited our students to reflect on how they can be level 10 students this year—in their kindness, work ethic, compassion, understanding, and effort.

The excitement didn’t stop there! Thanks to the amazing talents of Mr. Abbott, we introduced a refreshed version of our school song. Check out the highlights in the video and see the fun, laughter, and school spirit in action!

IMPORTANT REMINDER: As the new school year begins, please be aware that there will be a lot of additional traffic around our school properties, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. This will be particularly noticeable during the first few weeks of school as we welcome students and as families settle into routines. Please be extremely patient, and remember to put the safety of all students first.
